Customers like to feel special, to feel cared for and to feel loved. A great way to do this is through giveaways and surprise guerilla marketing tactics; like that done by Kleenex. Kleenex found 50 people via Facebook whom had statuses indicating they were ill. They were then sent a “feel good” package from Kleenex that resulted in 100% participant feedback. Each of the 50 participants posted a photo of their care package to their Facebook wall.

Here at Signal, we have experienced similar results. We have had several giveaways for clients that have received great customer feedback. Customers have even thanked our client for being so generous. Contests and giveaways typically result in increased engagement and a jump in new fans.

In the end we all want to feel special. Something so simple and cost effective as sending a care package can generate a big ripple effect. In the Kleenex example, 650,402 impressions were made and over 1,800 interactions. Once people started to notice the participants posting photos of their care packages, they tried for Kleenex’s attention; in hopes they could receive a package too.

What a great guerilla-marketing tactic by Kleenex. Random acts of kindness are always a winner.
